Part 5: Back To Istanbul
Back To Istanbul — The End Of The Journey I parked the rental. Left my stuff. And walked around town. I spent time getting sunrise photos. When I started seeing people lining up for the ferry, I went back, grabbed my things, and joined the line. This time? I was in the front. It took a while to open, but when it did, everything went smoothly. Smaller ferry. Smaller crowd. Left on time. Arrived on time. I got out quickly and rushed to immigration. Earlier, I hired a private dr
Part 4: Samos
SAMOS — THE ISLAND I ALMOST HATED The Ferry From Hell — 5 Hours To Get Into Greece The next morning I gathered all my things and had the hotel call me a taxi. It was the same guy from before, and he was like: "Why didn’t you call me?" I literally said something like: "Well, you’re here anyway, right?" 😂 He didn’t really have anything to say. He took me to the ferry. I already had a built-up expectation for ferries to Greek islands. I was expecting: "Easy peasy fa shizzee."
Part 3: Kuşadasi
KUŞADASI — THE CITY I USED AS A BASE The next part of the trip would take me to Kuşadası because the main goal was getting to the Greek island of Samos. For some reason, I couldn’t find a ferry route that worked from Chios to Samos. It was all good, I guess. So I was staying in Kuşadası, but the main goal was Ephesus, a place my boy told me about. I never heard of it. I knew nothing about Turkey, so this was just another example of me learning about a place after I arrived. A

Part 2: Chios
Chios — The Island I Didn’t Know I Needed Leaving Çeşme One annoying thing about traveling like me is I have enough to travel, but I can’t travel and just blow money. I could have paid a lot more to return my car to Çeşme, but it was cheaper to drive the car back to the airport, lose some time, and save money. I can’t drive stick, so automatics in Europe are far more expensive. I was already paying a lot for rental cars, so I decided to lose time and save money. The positive

I Didn't Choose Turkey. I Chose a Person
New Blog Post I Didn’t Choose Turkey. I Chose a Person. — Part 1: Istanbul & Çeşme Posted by Darewrecks415 ., 32 So I finally decided to go to Turkey, not because it's a popular destination. Not because it's IG famous. Not because some fake-ass YouTuber recommended it to me. I went because I had a friend I grew up with back home whose parents are Turkish and who now lives there. He’s been bugging me for 4 or 5 years to come visit. Turkey was never on my radar. I knew nothing

I went because I had a friend I grew up with back home whose parents are Turkish and who now lives there. He’s been bugging me for 4 or 5 years to come visit. Turkey was never on my radar. I knew nothing about Turkish culture, the Ottomans, the beaches, the food. NOTHING. I didn't even know much about its relationsh
