Taitung City

Taitung County is located on the southeast coast of Taiwan and is known for its beautiful natural landscapes, diverse indigenous cultures, and laid-back atmosphere. The county is home to several national parks, including the East Rift Valley National Scenic Area, which offer stunning mountain and ocean views, hiking trails, and hot springs. Taitung County is also famous for its beaches, with some of the best surf spots in Taiwan located along the coast. In addition to its natural attractions, Taitung County is home to several indigenous tribes, each with its own unique culture and traditions. Visitors can experience indigenous culture through food, handicrafts, music, and dance, and can also visit traditional villages to learn more about the history and lifestyle of the tribes. Taitung County is also known for its annual hot air balloon festival, which takes place every summer and attracts thousands of visitors from around the world. With its mix of natural beauty, cultural richness, and outdoor adventures, Taitung County is a must-visit destination for those seeking a unique and memorable travel experience in Taiwan.

The East Coast- The east coast is a lot different from the west coast of Taiwan. Life in the east is a lot slower and more relaxed, at least to me. There are less people, smaller cities, less traffic, and more friendly people. (I still wasn’t very popular here though, but I had more genuine interactions with random Taiwanese than in the west.) To say the east is more beautiful than the west, north, or south is a matter of opinion. The pollution is far less on the east, which is a plus!​ 

東海岸是完全不同於西海岸的。東海岸的生活步調比西海岸慢很多，更悠閒。至少我是這麼認為。更少人，更小的城市，更少塞車，更多友善的人。(但我還是沒有非常受歡迎，比起西海岸，我與這裡的人有更好的互動)。東岸比西，北，南更漂亮是觀點。更少空汙是加分。對我而言，停車跟開車都比較容易，因為這裡人比較少。      

Located on the delta of the Beinan River, Taitung County boasts coastal areas and high mountains! This is a cyclist's heaven as there are many bike routes and home to the Gunshan Bike Bicycle Trail, Taiwan’s oldest bikeway. This used to be one of my favorite cities and it still is cool, but what I really fell in love with is Taitung County, more than the city itself. Super green, super clean, and now we are fully embraced in the east coast.​ 

位於卑南溪的三角地帶，台東縣自豪於他的海濱區還有高山區域。這裡是自行車天堂，有很多自行車道，關山自行車道是台灣最老的。        

One thing I found odd about the east coast is, and I have been to the east coast at least a dozen times. With the exception of a few beaches, the coastline is empty. I have hit so many beaches here. It's no secret that many Asians prefer to stay indoors or cover themselves, because they want that white skin, many Taiwanese are no different. It could also be that the oceans have dangerous currents. I am not sure. I have not swum in every beach I found on the east coast, but most look harmless in terms of wading in and getting your feet wet. I rarely see more than 5 people at any one random beach I go to along the east coast. As far as I’m concerned, it's untouched. You get beaches to yourself out here. It’s nice! Taitung is known as the “Garden of Taiwan” for obvious reasons. Its beauty will not disappoint!​

這裡曾是我的最愛，他依舊很酷，但我比較喜歡台東縣。很綠，很乾淨，我們現在被東海岸包圍。有一件奇怪的事就是，海岸很空，我來東海岸至少十幾次，除了一些熱門海灘，大部分的海灘都沒有人。大部分的亞洲人喜歡待在室內，或是包緊緊，因為他們想要白皮膚。很多台灣人都是這樣。但也許海灘很危險有暗流，我也不確定。我沒有在每個海灘都游過泳，但大部分的看起來無害，如果你只是泡泡海水，把腳弄濕的話。我很少看到海灘上有超過五人。你可以找你自己愛的海灘。台東也有台灣花園之稱。他的美是不會讓你失望的。

Tiehua Music Village ❤️🏠

This is in downtown Taitung. I have been here a few times. It's colorful at night. It’s got some interesting buildings. I’ve seen some musical street performers here. Worth checking out.​

Liyushan / Mt. Liyu ❤️🏠

This is right in the city center. A little mountain to hike. ​

This is a cool little walking and bike path in the center.​

這裡可以散步，也可以騎腳踏車，在市中心。。

Taitung Forest Park ❤️🏠📸

I liked this park. I rented a bike and biked all over. The park eventually leads to the beach. It's a big park. I spent a few hours here.​ 

台東森林公園: 我喜歡這個公園。我甚至租了一台腳踏車，然後騎了整個公園。最後會到海灘。這是個很大的公園。我花了幾個小時在這裡。

富岡漁港

This is the port that takes you to Green and Orchid Island.​ 

這是搭船到綠島或蘭嶼的港口。

Duoliang Railway Station 🏠🚗

I drove by this many times. Once I started becoming desperate for places to go to that I haven’t been, I stopped by. It costs a fee to get in. Maybe 50NT. I was there for like 15 minutes then I left. It does seem popular with the locals. Didn't do anything for me. ​ 

多良觀光車站: 我開車經過這裡很多次。有一次我終於來了。需要入場費，大概五十元。我大概只待了15分鐘。似乎是很受當地人歡迎的點。

Jinlun Beach ❤️🏠🚗

There are lots of beaches on the east coast. I mean it's all beaches. I am not going to list them all. As you drive up or down the east coast, and I prefer up because you’re driving on the coastal side rather than south driving on the other side of the highway.

Dawushan Nature Reserve ❤️🚗📸

I was pissed off and bored when a local gave me this tip. I was happy I got it. It was a nice drive inland with hot springs and hotels. I did not go to the hot springs or stay here, but I marveled at the beauty. Worth checking out, for sure.​ 

大武山自然保留區: 我當時很生氣又很無聊，有一個當地人推薦我來。開車往內陸很舒服，有溫泉跟旅館。我沒有去溫泉也沒有住。但是我很震驚於它的美麗。 值得一來。

Kinchen Mountain ❤️📸🚗

Famous for its wildflowers. Pink cherry blossoms in the spring and yellow day lilies in the summer. I have been to this mountain twice and never could find them. Even went with a local once and asked people on the road. It just didn’t happen.​ 

金針山: 以野花著名，春天賞櫻， 夏天金針花。我來過兩次但從沒看過。即使是跟當地人來，問路人也都沒看到過。

Continuing north from Taitung….繼續往北

There is a beach, and I don’t know the name. But if you are driving north from Taitung and see a dilapidated building with graffiti on the right-hand side, find parking quickly. Go down to that beach. It’s usually empty. Super nice place to chill. No one talks about Taitung and scuba diving. This beach has coral reefs and tropical fish. I didn’t dive here, but I did snorkel. I was surprised no one ever mentioned Taitung as a place to dive. More on diving in another section.​

有一個我不知道名字的海灘，但是你，但是你如果從台東開車如果從台東開車，看到一棟有塗鴉的破舊建築在右邊。那你就要馬上找停車位。往下到那個海灘，通常沒有人。超棒的地方可以放鬆。這海灘有珊瑚礁跟熱帶魚。我沒有在這裡潛水，我只有浮潛。我很驚訝沒人提到台東可以潛水。。

Sanxiantai Arch Bridge ❤️🏠📸🚗⭐

AKA the Dragon Bridge. Probably one of my favorite places on the east coast. It's a super cool looking bridge at the beach that leads to an island where you can hike. You can relax here, eat, cross the bridge, hike, fly your drone, shoot photography, stay up late night and photograph the stars. I highly recommend this place!​ 

三仙台跨海大橋: 也是龍之橋。大概是我東部最喜歡的地方。 有一個超酷的橋，連到對面的小島，你可以健行。你可以休息，吃吃東西，走過橋，健行，飛空拍機，拍照，一直到夜晚拍星星。我超推薦這裡。

Diamond Avenue ❤️📸🚗

I like this place for photography. This is one of those places where you can get those iconic shots of endless highway with no cable lines or anything for that matter. ​ 

忠勇自行車道: 這是一個拍照的地方。這裡你可以拍無止盡的公路，沒有電線或其他東西干擾。

Luye Highlands ❤️🏠🚗

I missed it every time, but they have a huge hot air balloon festival and show during the summer. I regret not seeing it, but I’ve been there.​ 

鹿野高台: 每次來我都錯過，這裡會舉辦熱氣球嘉年華。我很後悔沒有看到。但我來過這裡

Guanshan

Is a small little cute town. I have been here three times, only because I was going to go to Jiaming Lake. This is a good place to stay before you go. It’s still a drive up in the mountains but it's fairly close. What I liked about this place is you can rent a bike and use their bike path that goes all around the town. It's a pretty ride. Very chill.

​關山: 這是一個可愛的小鎮。我來這裡三次，因為我要去爬嘉明湖。這裡是很好的住宿點。還是要往山裡開但是相對的近一點。我喜歡這裡是因為你可以租腳踏車，騎在自行車道上，繞整個小鎮。我很喜歡騎車在這裡。很悠閒。

Guanshan Township Farmers' Association Recreation Center

This place is kind of cool. I didn’t expect a place like this in Guanshan. You can chill, it's got some cool looking buildings and art displays. Hell, I even bought some bomb ass local brown rice at the farmers market among other items. I stocked up! If you’re here, you might as well go. There isn’t much.​

米國學校: 這裡很酷。我沒想到關山會有這樣的地方，你可以休息，可以看看很酷的建築跟藝術品。我甚至買了一些品質很好的糙米。如果你在關山，不妨來這裡。

Mr. Brown Avenue ❤️🏠📸🚗

There are more. This is a place where you can rent a bike or a cart with family and friends. They close the road. Lots of rice fields. I loved flying my drone here.​ 

伯朗大道: 這是一個你可以租腳踏車或是三輪車，跟朋友或家人一起。他們把路封起來。很多稻田。我喜歡在這裡飛空拍機。

Jhihben National Forest Recreation Area ❤️🏠🚗

This place is nice. It's a cool place to walk around, chill, and take pictures. It's well maintained and costs a small fee to enter.​ 

知本國家森林遊樂區: 這裡也很棒。是個可以悠閒散步的地方，拍拍照。維持得很好，需要一些入園費。
