TAIPEI

Taipei City

Taipei City is the vibrant capital of Taiwan, located in the north of the island. As one of the most cosmopolitan and dynamic cities in Asia, Taipei is known for its bustling streets, diverse cuisine, and fascinating cultural heritage. The city offers a mix of modern skyscrapers and historical landmarks, such as the iconic Taipei 101 skyscraper and the centuries-old Longshan Temple. Taipei is also renowned for its night markets, where visitors can sample a range of delicious street food and immerse themselves in the local culture. The city is surrounded by natural beauty, including the famous Yangmingshan National Park and the scenic Beitou Hot Springs. With its lively atmosphere, fascinating history, and stunning scenery, Taipei is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Taiwan.

Taipei is the biggest city in Taiwan. Home to Taipei 101. I think it's a cool looking city from certain points of view, but I wasn’t a fan of Taipei. Parking is horrible, the drivers are assholes, it's confusing to drive around. Every time I would drive from Taichung to Taipei I would get there and quickly regret it. I would stay one day then leave and head to the northern coast. I just wasn’t a fan. Maybe if I had friends, it would have been different, but yeah…whatever. Use the MRT there, don’t drive. Here are some places in Taipei.

Taipei 101

Walked by, but never did it.

Elephant Mountain

I did do this hike. It was fairly easy and gave a nice view of the city. I was told it can be dangerous at night to go. Danger and Taiwan don’t go hand in hand…but maybe.

National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall ❤️🏠📸⭐

This is an impressive massive structure. I think the architecture is amazing. It isn’t uncommon to see youth practicing various street dances or K-pop choreography among others walking and relaxing here. The highlight for me was watching Return of the Jedi with a full-on orchestra!

Huashan 1914 Creative Park ❤️🏠

This was ok. There is a park, some interesting shops and art. I took photos and relaxed here.

Ximending District 📸⭐

I liked this area for its large amounts of graffiti. There are some dope pieces here. I did manage to meet a few artists from Europe and Hong Kong painting while exploring there. This was pre Covid. I would also see street dancers practicing their crafts in various areas of this district. They even had a Ben Davis store, that took me waaayyy back!
