Ping Tung County

Pingtung County is a beautiful area located in southern Taiwan, bordering the Taiwan Strait to the west and the Central Mountain Range to the east. It is the southernmost county in Taiwan and boasts a warm and sunny climate, making it an ideal destination for beachgoers and outdoor enthusiasts. The county is home to many notable attractions, including Kenting National Park, the southernmost national park in Taiwan, and the scenic Chihshang Township, famous for its beautiful rice paddies. Pingtung County is also known for its delicious food, such as seafood, fresh fruit, and traditional snacks. The county is well connected by highways and railways, making it easy to access from other parts of Taiwan.

Pingtung County is as far south as you can get. I enjoyed coming here a lot, but it's played out at this point. I have been all over Pingtung, hiked random trails, and just explored. My first drive to Kenting was pretty awesome. I was pretty depressed at all the air pollution coming from Kaosiung and the surrounding area, however as you continue towards Kenting something magical happens! The skies become blue! It’s pretty amazing and it remains like that, moving forward and all along the east coast. Pingtung also has the toughest looking political candidates on the island.

屏東縣位於最南端。也是台灣第一個國家公園的所在地。當地特色包括，黑珍珠蓮霧，豬腳，黑鮪魚。我很喜歡來。我曾經走遍屏東，走了很多步道。我第一次開車去墾丁的經驗超讚的。我覺得心情不太好因為高雄及附近的空汙，但是，當你繼續往墾丁前進後，神奇的事發生了! 天空超藍，超棒的，一直延伸到東海岸。同時屏東也有看起來最狠的候選人。

Beaches, coconuts, blue skies, coral rocks, winds, trails, beautiful water, summer feel, and hiking can all be found here in Pingtung!

Donggang

I like Donggang, more as a personal joke that I won’t share, but I do drive through here all the time on my way to Kenting, just to drive by. They have a nice fish market with some bomb ass tuna, and the harbor here takes you to the island, Xiaoliuqiu. ​ 

東港: 我喜歡東港，每當我開車往墾丁時，我都只是路過這裡。有一個很棒的魚市，有鮪魚，還有往小琉球的港口。

Huaqiao Fish Market ❤️🏠⭐

It's an open market with all sorts of seafood. I had some Bluefin tuna sushi here and it was great. I also liked walking around the area for photos.​ 

華僑魚市場: 這裡是一個開放的市場，有各種的海鮮。我吃過鮪魚壽司，超棒!，我也喜歡在這裡走走拍照。

Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area

I just went here to check it out. It seemed closed when I was there. I just wandered around and took some pictures. It’s got some cute cartoon like statues, and the water. If you’re around, check it out. ​ 

大鵬灣國家風景區: 我來這裡只是看看。看起來好像沒開，我就四處看看，拍拍照。這裡有一些可愛的卡通雕像，當然還有海。如果你在附近可以來看看。。

Donggang Wharf

This is where you take the Ferry to Xiaoliuqiu.​

Jialianshequ Wetland Park ❤️🏠

Apparently, this place used to be a dump, but the community came together and cleaned it up. Most of the places were closed when I went, so I didn’t stay long. There is a small playground, swings, shade, a building, don’t know its function, and walking paths that lead out into the water that were closed. It's a very popular place for the community to come and relax and enjoy nature. ​ 

佳樂水濕地公園: 很明顯的，這裡是廢棄的，但當地社區整理了這裡。大部分的地方都是關閉的，所以我並沒有待很久。有一個小的遊樂器材區，盪鞦韆，陰涼處，有一棟不知道拿來幹嘛的建築，沿著路徑走下水邊，但是沒有開。這裡是一個受當地居民歡迎的地方，可以休息跟欣賞自然。

Pengcun Wetland Park ❤️🏠

There are a couple wetland parks here that I visited and other super cool things. I was going to add them all, but this particular place was the last one I visited but they are all connected together if you are willing to walk or bike. This one felt like the homebase point to start so I include it here, but you can reach other wetland parks, and one in particular, and I don’t know the name because it's in Chinese, gives you a view that caught my interest. Off in the distance was an interesting statue and even more, was a huge airplane. I found out the airplane used to be a restaurant, but it closed down. Time for another mission! Back at Pengcun, I enjoyed the walks through the mangroves, seeing fish jumping out of the water, and exploring. It was like a maze. The main area has a restaurant shop place I didn’t enter. There was a random big ass tortoise walking in the grass and there was a group of musicians performing traditional music nearby. I’d go here for sure.​

鵬村濕地公園:這附近有不少濕地公園。這個地方我是最後來的，但其實它們都是相連的。而這裡似乎是起點，如果你到其他的濕地公園，其中一個我不知道名字，因為它寫中文，但它引起我的興趣。 有一架很大的飛機，以前用來做餐廳但已經倒閉了。回到鵬村，我很享受在這裡散步，走過紅樹林，看魚跳出水面。很像迷宮，主要區域是一個餐廳跟商店，我沒有走進去。有一個超大的陸龜在草地上走路，有樂隊表演傳統音樂。我一定會來這裡!

The Plane 📸⭐

Here's a cutty one. Remember when I mentioned I saw a big airplane and statue? Well, they looked too damn interesting to pass, so I found out where they were, and it wasn’t too far from the wetland park that has a Chinese name. I found the fence. It was closed off to the public. Well, I hopped the fence because it was easy, and I wanted to check it out. There were construction workers there, but they didn’t say anything to me. I continued walking down the path. There were abandoned buildings and I think an old raceway for cars. It was really cool. I finally got a view of the massive airplane restaurant. I was intrigued. I saw some dudes in the distance on motorbikes, and I got paranoid. I tried to remain hidden while taking photos. I was spotted by some workers, but no one said anything. I looked at the entrances to the airplane and it turned out I could get up in here. I decided not to and began to leave when I felt an itch. Nope, I needed to go explore it. I was glad I did; it had a great view of the surrounding area. The waterfront, the cool statue of some womanish being, and the raceway. I got to explore the whole airplane and its various levels. There were still dozens and dozens of unopened sodas in there. I finished, quickly departed as paranoia set in. I would have loved to explore the abandoned raceway. ​ 

記得我前面提到我看到一架飛機跟雕塑品嗎? 它們看起來實在太棒了，一定要看一下，所以我試著找它們，離濕地公園不遠，是中文名字。我找到柵欄，沒有對外開放。然後我跳進柵欄，太容易了，我就是想要看看。那裏有工地工人在工作，但他們沒說甚麼。我繼續走下去，看到一棟廢棄的建築，然後似乎是賽車場。超酷的。後來我終於看到飛機餐廳了。我很好奇。但是我看到遠方有一些人騎摩托車，所以我恐慌了。我試著躲起來拍照，有些工人看到我但他們沒說甚麼，我看到飛機的入口結果發現我可以上去。但我決定不要因為我覺得有點癢癢的。不行!我還是得探險一下。而我也很高興我這麼做了。這裡可以俯瞰全景，海濱，看起來是女人的雕塑，賽車場。我看完整架飛機以及走過他各個樓層。這裡有超多沒開過的汽水。在恐慌症上身之前我結束了。我也想看看廢棄賽車場長怎樣。

猩猩石

There was supposed to be a coastal entrance nearby, but I couldn't find it. There was an abandoned building with graff on the side of the road which I explored. There was a mildly aggressive dog there, which was more bark than bite. ​ 

附近應該有一個入口，但我找不到。有一棟廢棄建築在路邊。有一個中度兇的狗，因為它只會教不會咬人。

落山風藝術季 ❤️🏠

This area consists of a beach, buildings, and cute Taiwanese sculptures. This begins your coastal road trip, where you should be driving along the coast and stopping often to see different beaches and sights.​

這地方包含了海灘，建築，可愛的台灣式雕塑。從這裡開始就是海岸線的公路，你可以一路沿著海岸哀，停下來看看不同的海灘跟風景。。

黃金海岸 ❤️🏠

Near the above location. I am not going to post every point along the coast as most are easy to find. Nice place with tidepools, sunset and beaches.​

車城龜山步道 ❤️🏠

This was my last place to explore before returning to the US. It's a pretty short, easy hike, but the beginning is all uphill steps. It has some really nice views and bunkers. You should go. ​

這是我回美國前最後一個探險的地方。很短，很容易的步道，但一開始是上坡。有很棒的風景，跟掩體。你應該要來。

後灣漁村 ❤️🏠

I really liked this spot!  It was a small community near the aquarium on the coast. It seemed to have some places you could stay, a couple restaurants and areas to walk, play, and swim.​ 

我真的很喜歡這裡。是一個小型社區，靠近海生館。好像有一些民宿，餐廳，散步，玩耍，游泳的區域

Longluantan Nature Center 🏠

This was a cool little spot. It costs 50NTD to park. It's a short walk to the nature center. The walk itself is fairly shady, with descriptions of the local flora. It opens up to a small grass area where the nature center is located. The center is free and is quite interesting if you’re into learning about the local fish and birds that call the lake their home. The coolest part about it is they have binoculars you can use to see the birds. Unfortunately, there is no access to the lake itself from here. Caution- This link will not take you to the center itself. If you are driving north, it will take you to some building. Maybe someone's house. There is a path that leads into the wilderness. Don’t be a “me” and park your car and wander into the tall grass. When I returned to my car the guy told me there are many snakes there. Snakes here can be dangerous! If you are heading north and it stops here, continue north, make the first right and it will lead you into a parking lot and have the name of the nature center. If you are heading south, and you come upon a beat-up old building you went too far. Make a U turn and head up north and make the first right. (I think I fixed the link.)​ 

龍鑾潭自然中心: 這是一個小小的，很酷的地方。停車費50元。走一小段到自然中心。有陰影處可以走，旁邊有花草標示牌。然後你就可以看到草地，也就是自然中心的位置。自然中心是免費進入的，如果你對魚或鳥有興趣，那你會覺得很棒。最酷的地方是他們有望遠鏡，你可以賞鳥。很不幸的，你沒辦法走到湖邊。注意: 連結不會帶你到自然中心，如果你往北開，他會帶你到可能是住家的地方。有一條路通向野外。不要像我一樣，停車然後要穿過長長的草。後來我回到我的車，有人告訴我草裡面有蛇，可能有毒。如果你是往北開，停在這裡，你要繼續往北，第一個彎右轉，然後就會到停車場。如果你是往南開，如果你看到老舊建築，代表你過頭了，你要迴轉，然後往北開，第一個彎右轉。

Shimen Historic Battlefield 🚗

I found this place while driving. The site in itself is ok, but the whole area is cool to explore.​ 

西門古戰場: 我是在開車的時候發現這裡的。整個區域很值得來探險。

National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium ❤️🏠⭐

I loved this aquarium. This is the best aquarium outside of San Francisco’s Academy of Sciences and Monterey Bay Aquarium that I have seen. Sharks, penguins, local freshwater fish and more. It's right on the coast. Beautiful location. You can even sleep over at this place in the walk-through part of the aquarium. ​

海生館:我很喜歡這個水族館。除了舊金山的科學博物館還有蒙特雷灣水族館以外最棒的。鯊魚，企鵝，本土種的魚。就在海的旁邊。很美麗的地點。你也可以在這裡過夜。

Guanshan ❤️🏠🚗

I parked outside a temple, walked up the steps and paid 60NT to look at views of Kenting. I don’t think it was worth it, but upon leaving this place from the other side, make a left and you end up...​

福靈龜 ❤️🏠🚗

HERE! This place was a lot cooler! It had some interesting paths within and around coral rock. A temple with a better view, though not of the ocean, food, and a large turtle coral rock. This place is free, but I didn’t find it until after I paid the 60NT for Guanshan. If you find Guanshan first and pay the 60NT, make sure you walk a bit further and come here, because it made me feel better about spending the 60NT. There are lots of mosquitos here.​ 

這裡! 這裡更棒。有一些有趣的路徑可以沿著珊瑚石走。有一個寺廟，風景更好，但不是海景。食物還有一個大的龜形珊瑚石。這裡是免費的。但你還是要花60元才找的到。如果你先到關山，付60元，確認你走遠了一點，來這裡。我覺得這裡更值得60元。很多蚊子。

日落大道 ❤️🏠🚗

I found this on GoogleMaps. It didn’t lead to anything. HOWEVER, it is up high and before the pin there were stone chairs and tables. People were eating on some of them, which leads me to believe there is a restaurant there or people brought their own food to relax up high watching the sunset. With that said, it is a dope location for a picnic, look at the view and sunset!​ 

我是在Google地圖上發現這裡的。好像沒甚麼東西，但是，他在高處，在這個點之前有石椅跟石桌。有人坐在那裏吃東西，所以我認為附近有餐廳，大家買了東西後就來這裡吃。所以，這裡是一個野餐很方便的地方。可以看風景跟日落。

Kenting Baishawan ❤️🏠📸🚗⭐

You should drive all along this coast beginning at the aquarium. Lots of places to explore, like fishing villages, the coast, and more inland. While exploring this route I came upon this beach. This is the same beach from the Life of Pi, when they finally reached shore. It gets crowded.​ 

墾丁白沙灣: ，從海生館開始，你應該要一直沿著海岸線開。很多地方可以探險，像是漁村，海岸，內陸。當進行我的探險時，我來到這個海灘。這是電影少年Pi的拍攝海灘，就是他們最終抵達的海岸。滿多人的。

大光沙灘 ❤️🏠🚗

This is the spot for kayaking. The only people on the water were kayakers. If that's your thing, you probably want to check it out. ​ 

這是划獨木舟的點，只有划獨木舟的人在水裡。如果你喜歡划，你可能要來這裡一探究竟。

Kenting National Park 🏠📸🚗

It's a national park. If you like hiking and nature, there is no reason not to go here or any of the other national parks in Taiwan.​ 

墾丁國家公園: 是一個國家公園。如果你喜歡健行跟大自然，當然你要來這裡，或是去其他國家公園。。

夏都沙灘酒店海灘 ❤️🏠📸🚗⭐

Another nice beach. Smaller and closer to the Kenting Night Market. I personally like to go a little off road, but this is nice.​ 

另一個很棒的沙灘。比較小，靠近墾丁夜市。我個人喜歡去一些秘境類的，但這裡很不錯。

墾丁大街 ❤️🏠

This is the Kenting Night Market. I’m not a fan of night markets, which is why I don’t bring them up much nor food. It’s not that I don’t like them, I just can't take full advantage of night markets because of my dietary restrictions. I personally like this one because the strip has all sorts of shops and restaurants. It’s pretty diverse. They have alcohol stations outside and a few bars. More diverse food, even a taco stand that had served gluten free tacos. It can get super crowded. I prefer the night market in Hengchun. ​ 

墾丁大街夜市: 我不喜歡夜市。所以我不會提到太多關於夜市的事，還有食物。並不是我不喜歡他們，只是因為我的飲食限制，我沒辦法吃夜市裡的東西。我個人喜歡這裡是因為整條街有各種的商店跟餐廳。很多元化。也有賣酒的小攤販在外面，還有一些酒吧。更多樣化的食物，甚至有賣塔可的，有無麩質的塔可。假日時超級擁擠。比起來我比較喜歡恆春的夜市。

Kenting National Forest Recreation Area ❤️🏠📸🚗

I forget if this place costs money. I went here early when I first moved here. It's a nice relaxing walk with caves, pavilions with views and flora and fauna.​ 

墾丁國家公園森林遊憩區: 我忘記這裡要不要收費。我到這裡是我剛搬來台灣的時候。可以很悠閒地散步，可以看到洞穴，花跟動物的展覽館。

出火特別景觀區 ❤️🏠📸🚗

This place has a natural fire. It’s pretty dope. Parking is near and it's free. I went there before, during, and after sunset. I prefer it to be a little dark which adds to the flames. 

​這個地方是自然的火源。很棒。停車場就在旁邊，是免費的。我在日落前中後的時候來的。我比較喜歡天色有點暗的時候，可以看到火焰。

船帆石小沙灘 ❤️🏠🚗

The main feature here is a rock called the Nixon Rock, because it looks like Richard Nixon. Check it out.​ 

這裡的特色就是有一塊石頭叫尼克森石，因為她看起來像理查尼克森。值得一看。

Eluanbi Lighthouse ❤️🏠🚗

This was like the hardest place for me to find for some reason. Google Maps gave wrong directions and everyone I asked for help proved helpless. It took me like 3 or 4 trips to Kenting before I found the light house. It is worth checking out because aside from the lighthouse there are lots of trails to explore here. I am not sure if this is the faulty location, but even if it is, it won't take you anywhere scary!​ 

鵝鑾鼻燈塔: 這裡對我來說是最難到的。因為google地圖沒有給我正確的方向，我問每個人也都毫無幫助。我是來了墾丁三四次之後才找到的。值得一來，除了燈塔本身還有很多步道可以探索。

Taiwan Southernmost Point ❤️🏠🚗

It’s the southernmost point. If anything, just to brag about. It isn’t all that impressive, but you can say, “Yo! I’ve been to the southernmost point in Taiwan!”​ 

台灣最南端: 這裡是台灣最南端。你就是可以炫耀一下，我來過台灣最南端。

埔頂大草原 ❤️🏠📸🚗

This is a beautiful grassland area with cool looking buildings and places to stay. There are lots of hidden gems away from the main Kenting night market street area to stay and relax. I prefer to stay in areas like this. Just depends on what you’re looking for. 

​這裡是很漂亮的草原，有很酷的建築跟民宿可供住宿。除了墾丁夜市區可以住之外，外面還有有很多隱藏的更值得住的區域。我喜歡住在像這樣的區域。就是看你想要找甚麼感覺。

Longpan Park ❤️🏠📸🚗

I went here to play with light and shoot the stars. I had a good night.​

小水蛙窟大草原 ❤️🏠📸🚗

Very beautiful lush green grasslands with a white fence. Good for photos or just walking around for a bit.​ 

很漂亮的大草原，旁邊有白色的柵欄。拍照很適合，或是可以散散步。

Fengchuisha ❤️🏠🚗

As you start heading north along the road, you will find lots of places to stop and get high views of the beaches below. It's super windy almost all the time but it's beautiful!​

風吹沙: 當你沿著路往北走，你會發現很多地方都可以停下來，可以俯瞰海灘。風很大，但很美麗

Gangkou Suspension Bridge ❤️🏠🚗

There are LOTS of suspension bridges in Taiwan. This was the first one I went to. It’s a nice little hike. By the parking lot there is a nice little restaurant that serves big portions. It's a bit pricey but you get a lot of food. If you leave the parking lot and make a right, you will hit a beach where you can find surfers.​ 

港口吊橋: 台灣有很多吊橋。這是我第一個去的。滿不錯的一段健行。停車場旁邊有一間小餐廳，食物都是大份量的。有點貴，但你會吃到很多食物。如果你離開停車場右轉，你會看到很多衝浪者的海灘。

Jialeshuei Scenic Garden Car Ticket Office 📸🚗⭐

I stumbled upon this place in one of my “Let’s see what happens if I go here” episodes. (Coming soon!) It’s closed, but the path wasn’t blocked so I drove in. This was mid-July 2022. Kenting, even during weekends, is overrun by tourists. I’m avoiding all beaches, the night market, just trying to find something where people aren’t going to be at. Well, drive past this abandoned ticket office, all the way to the parking lot. Park your car or continue down the path on motorbike. It's about a 30-to-45-minute walk. Won’t spoil it, just see for yourself. I was happy I went. ​ 

佳樂水風景區: 我是偶然發現這裡的，影片會放在"看看有甚麼" 裡。沒有對外開放但他也沒有封鎖，還是有路可以進去。這是2022,六月中的情況。墾丁，在周末，會擠滿遊客。所以我不會去海灘，夜市，我會去發掘一些沒有人去的地方。我就開車經過這個廢棄的售票口，會一直到停車場。停好你的車，或是繼續騎機車往下走。大概要走30到45分鐘。我就不告訴你太多了。你自己來看看吧。我倒是很高興 我有來。

九棚大沙漠 ❤️🏠📸🚗⭐

I love this place. I found it randomly as I was driving up the coast. It's a beach with large hilly sand dunes. I never knew its name, so I dubbed it “Derrek’s Cut.” You can rent dune buggies here, but I just walk around, fly my drone, and take pictures.

​我很喜歡這裡。也是不經意發現的。是一處海灘，有很大的沙丘。我不知道他的名字，所以我用我的名字取名。你可以租沙灘車。我只是來這裡走一走，非空拍機，拍照而已。九棚大沙漠

Hengchun

I like this little town. Hengchun has a cool old wall and tunnel and some very fancy looking shops on one strip. It just doesn’t make sense to me, so I like walking over there. There is also a Japanese restaurant I really like and a night market if you continue on and I remember having ice cream here made of onion or something weird. It was good.

​恆春: 我喜歡這個小鎮。。恆春有很酷的古城牆，還有隧道，小巷裡也有一些看起來很華麗的店。顯得不太合理，所以我喜歡在這裡散步。有一間我真的很喜歡的日本餐廳，還有夜市。我記得我在這裡吃了洋蔥冰淇淋，還有一些古怪的東西。很棒。

Hengchun West Gate ❤️🏠📸🚗⭐

Crossing this gate, you should find an open square and small temple. You can go on the wall. If you continue you will find the cool little strip, I mentioned above and on the right-hand side the Japanese restaurant I mentioned. It’s got a cool little strip nearby as well as the night market.​ 

恆春西門: 穿過這個城門，你會發現一個廣場跟一間小廟。你可以在牆上行走。如果你繼續走你會發現一些小巷子，日本餐廳就在右邊。

阿嘉的家 ❤️🏠

This place also had some interesting shops. Worth checking out if you’re there. The night market is also close to this area.​

這個地方有一些有趣的店。來到這裡你可以來看看。夜市也在附近。

I have been to so many places in Pingtung, this doesn’t even scratch the surface, but I’m spontaneous and not very computer savvy yet. There's more beaches, trails, hikes, and waterfalls.​

屏東我去過很多地方，但都只是皮毛而已。但是我很主動，對電腦不是那麼精明，有更多的海灘，步道，健行，和瀑布。
