Restaurants
Gluten doesn't kill me, so I occasionally cheat now and then. I don't think there are any restaurants that have 100% gluten free menu's, but there are gluten free options. Always check with the restaurant and make sure an item is gluten free. Here is a list of restaurants, in various cities that I have enjoyed. Often times I would bring my own gluten free items to make it work better, for example gluten free bread or gluten free soy sauce, etc... I have even been charged less for bringing in my own items at some restaurants!

Taichung
This was my go-to place. Good ingredients, some gluten free options, and tasty. I was a vegan coming to Taiwan but being vegan and gluten free was hard here for me, so I began to eat meat again.
這裡曾經是我的必去餐廳。食材很好，有一些無麩質飲食選擇，而且很好吃。我剛來台灣時是吃素的，但是吃素又無麩質在台灣太難實行了。所以我又開始吃肉。
I loved the burgers here! They were bomb!

Indian restaurant by my house, but there are several locations. Some gluten free options. I loved it! Try the butter chicken.

Mexican restaurant, run by a Mexican from DF. It’s still Taiwan. It’s as legit as you can get in Asia. With that said, it’s good for here and it's authentic. Why should you my opinion about Mexican food matter, when I have been disappointed by so many reviews from Westerners? Firstly, my family is from Mexico. I was born and raised in San Francisco, California. I have been to Mexico like 30 times and have lived there. I grew up on Mexican food because that's what my mom made. The whole west coast of USA has hella Mexican food as does Arizona, and Nevada. While I have not traveled everywhere in Mexico and there are many dishes I don't know, I feel I have good enough knowledge on real and US American versions of Mexican food.
特奧蒂華坎: 墨西哥餐廳，墨西哥人經營的，可以說有點台灣。以亞洲水準來說算是相當不錯。對當地人而言可以說很墨西哥，很真實。
Tainan
Gluten doesn’t kill me, just makes me feel really sick. There are times I make exceptions. I LOVE SUSHI! I came here anytime I traveled to Taiwan.
壽司店: 麩質不喜歡我，會讓我生病。但總是有例外的時候，我愛壽司，每次我來台南我都會來這裡吃。
The story behind this was I was in Tainan obviously, and I wanted to eat sushi. For some lame reason places close early. I usually go to Sushi Bar because I’m one of those sushi lovers who like the less traditional sushi styles, but it was already 7pm and I was about 25 minutes away from Sushi Bar. There was no way I was going to make it, because sometimes even if the store closes at 8 and it's not 8, they may not take any more customers. I Googled “sushi places near me” and I started doing NY Chen’s main move- browsing. I looked at the pictures and saw a couple places that caught my interest. Susushi was one of them. Looked at the photos and decided this is what I want, and it closes at 9pm. I then looked at the reviews and they were solid. Some patrons even mentioned the chef will freestyle sushi for you. Couldn’t hurt so I went. It's actually like 6 blocks away from Sushi Bar. The young Taiwanese sushi chef owned the joint as well. He makes everything right in front of you. His English was uhhh….not good but not bad. Good enough kinda. He’s legit though, I enjoyed the whole session. Talking with him, watching him do his craft, his team consists of two other young men. The kitchen guy was nice, but the waiter was on point. He paid very good attention to detail and was on it the whole time. He spoke a little English too. I even asked him to freestyle sushi for me and he did. Completely recommend this place. The place is simple but clean. Check it out. I’m glad I did.
背後的故事就是，我在台南，我想吃壽司。但已經過了sushi bar營業時間，我喜歡不是那麼傳統的壽司，那時已經七點了，我離sushi bar還有25分鐘。我不可能到的了因為有時候即使他們八點才關門，但不到八點他們就不接客人了。我上網搜尋離我近的壽司店，開始瀏覽。我看了看照片，有些引起我的興趣，susushi就是其一。看著照片決定這就是我想要的，而且他九點才關，然後我看了評論覺得很棒。有些人提到主廚甚至會為你特製。所以我去了。他其實離sushi bar不遠大概六條街的距離。年輕的台灣主廚有一個小攤。他會把做好的東西放在你面前。他的英語...嗯...沒有很好也沒有很差。可以溝通了。我很享受整個過程，跟他點餐，看著他當場做，他還有兩個助手。廚房那個人很好，服務生完美。他會很注重細節，然後專注於上面。他可以說一點英文。我甚至問他給我隨便做一個，然後他照做了。超推薦這裡。很簡單但乾淨。我很高興我來了。
This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Tainan. Maybe all of Taiwan. The address says grocery store. It is like next to or super close to this place. There is the Chikran temple. Across from its entrance is another temple. Go down the street parallel to that temple, and you will find it on the left-hand side after a couple blocks. It’s past the temple. I don't know the name.
越南餐廳: 這是我在台南最愛的越南餐廳，可能是整個台南。地址是雜貨店，但就在隔壁或超級近的。附近是祀典武廟，然後你會發現他在左手邊。
Kaohsiung
Another Mexican restaurant owned by a DF. This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in Asia and easily in Taiwan that I have tried. Similar to Teotihuacan, only the tacos here are fire! They stood out more than the Teotihuacan.
另一個墨西哥人開的餐廳。這裡大概是亞洲及台灣我最愛的墨西哥餐廳。有點像Teotihuacan。塔可超棒，比teotihuacan棒。

Taitung
There’s a Vietnamese restaurant not too far from Water Running Upward. It's hella good too. Atleast, I like it.
有一間越南餐廳離水往上流不遠。很棒，至少我喜歡。
Hualien
This is my favorite sushi place in Taiwan. It’s in Hualien. First of all, the price is legit. It's not cheap, but not expensive either. 2nd, he does specialty rolls, like Dragon rolls, California Rolls, etc…just like the ones I enjoy back home in California. It also has a Cali theme, and the owner has been to Cali and speaks decent English. These types of rolls aren’t super popular in Asia, but they are with me.
這裡是我最愛的壽司店。在花蓮。價錢合理，不便宜，但也不算貴。有一些特別的壽司捲
，像龍捲，加州捲等等的，就像我回到加州吃的，店裡充滿加州主題，老闆也曾經在加州待過，他的英文還不錯。這種壽司捲在亞洲不太受歡迎，但我喜歡。
Taipei
This place sells some gluten free dishes as well as gluten free breads and more. The slices were small though. I liked Boske’s better.
德式烘焙坊: 這裡賣很多無麩質的食物，也賣無麩質的麵包。但份量比較少，我還是喜歡Boske的。
Yilan
I thought I would add this place because I had some good times here. I have eaten the pizza and it's pretty good, despite my gluten issues. The owner is welcoming and is from Cali, I believe. They have parties sometimes and live bands. It was actually the first place where I was invited by a Taiwanese person to a party. That only happened once in the 4 years I’ve lived there. With that said, anytime a random Taiwanese person included me into something it meant a lot to me. Everyone here is super chill and cool.
漂流者披薩屋: 我想我會把這個地方加進來，因為我在這裡享受了美好時光。我吃過他的披薩，很不錯，除了我的麩質問題。老闆很熱情而且他也是加州人。它們常常有派對，有時是樂隊。這還真的是第一個我被台灣人邀請的派對。我住了四年只發生過一次。也就是說，任何時候，任何台灣人邀請我參加活動，對我來說都很重要。每個人在這裡都很放鬆享受。。
