Yunlin County
Located in western Taiwan, Yunlin County is known for its agriculture. It is one of the least developed counties on the west coast. Sorry, gets no love. There is a festival in spring. It's Near Chiayi in a place called Beigang. There is also a very famous temple there. The festival is called Yi-Ge. It is dedicated to the Goddess Mazu. The seas and oceans are her domain. It's several days long where people “hurt” themselves with various weapons. (I missed this! Damn! I wanted footage!) What I did see was a celebration where candy was thrown to people watching the procession. This is the temple, I believe.
春季時會有一個慶典。在一個靠近嘉義的地方，叫北港。同時也擁有一間很有名的寺廟。這個活動叫藝閣。為了慶祝媽祖誕辰。媽祖守護海洋。活動會持續數天。有些人會用各種武器傷害自己。(天啊!我真後悔沒錄影)。藝閣就是有一些坐在花車上的人會把糖果丟向群眾。這就是寺廟。
