PENGHU
Penghu was the last place I visited in Taiwan. I had plans to visit it twice before but weather conditions always canceled my trip. On the 3rd try it was a go. Note, I wrote this entry AFTER my Kinmen entry. I had no doubt in my mind about Kinmen, which you will read about next. Pengu consists of many islands and islets. I am not sure how many islands you can go to, but I know I did not go to all of them. I managed to hit 5 islands. I was in the areas of Magong, Huxi, Xiyu, and Baisha. Like the other islands, these are small places. I will share a few spots in each area then get a motor bike and do some exploring. It’s super easy to find things out here, even just driving around. Pengu attracted me for its natural beauty, the best beaches in Taiwan, and its old villages. It’s also smaller with less people, so driving is more laid back then in the big cities.
澎湖: 這是最後一個我在台灣拜訪的地方。在此之前我曾有兩次機會到澎湖，但因為天氣不佳取消了。第三次終於成行了。注意，我寫這篇是在我寫金門之後，我對金門是毫無疑問的，之後你可以讀一讀。澎湖包含了很多小島。我不確定有幾個是可以登島的，但我所知道的是我沒有去過全部的島。我本來要跑五個島，後來我待在馬公，湖西，西嶼跟白沙。就像其他的島嶼，這些都是小地方。我會分享這些地區的一些點，所以騎一台機車，然後開始探險吧。這一些東西都很容易找，所以就到處看看。澎湖吸引我的地方是它的自然美景，有台灣最好的海灘，一些古老的村落。也比較小，人比較少。所以相較於某些大城市，在這裡開車比較輕鬆。

This place. Chang Yu-Sheng was an old school heart throb and dream boat. This guy probably made your Taiwanese friends' moms wet and fathers hate. This is in the old street area. You should walk around this whole area as there is a lot of history here. This particular spot is of a 4 holed well.

This place right by the water has a bridge. It wasn’t the nicest place to go into the water but people were swimming here, SUPing it up, and kayaking. It was pretty crowded.

I don’t get it. This place was beautiful, and they have places to rent out right across from the beach, but NO ONE was there! I went swimming and had a great time relaxing. Sandy beach, calm waves, and clear water.

This was smaller but equally beautiful and empty. This was a bit farther away.

As you about wrap up north, you come here. Very close to Shili beach, this cave is partly in the water but worth checking out. There is some shade and a look out point.
風櫃洞: 當你準備往北，你先來這裡，離嵵裡沙灘很近，這個洞一部分在水裡，值得來一看。有一些遮蔭跟一個觀景台。
This is about the farthest point you can go. It was quiet, empty, and really nice. I flew my drone around here. It's also cool to see the rest of Magong across the water.
這大概是你可以到的最遠的地方。很安靜沒人，相當棒。我在這裡飛空拍機，從這裡看對岸的馬公也很酷。
Lots of more spots in Magong, but as I mentioned, its small…drive or walk around.
Huxi is the county is east of Magong and has some really nice parks and interesting areas to check out.

This beach was pretty long, but it was crowded near the parking lot. Volleyball nets, people, and lots of things going on. I was mildly impressed, especially with beaches way tighter and emptier. If you walk away from the parking lot, there is no one.
隘門海灘: 這個海灘很長，靠近停車場的部分很擠，有排球往，人們，很多東西。我是中度的印象深刻，特別是跟那些更酷，更沒人的海灘相比。如果你遠離停車場，就比較沒有人。
This was one of the coolest areas in Pengu for me. If you time the tides right, a path opens up leading to a small island you can explore. I did not time it right, but I saw an amazing sunset here and there are trails to explore. You want to go here and not just go to the island. There is a lot more here! There is a parking lot, restaurants, and some stores.
這也是一個很酷的地方，如果你抓好潮汐時間，中間的步道會打開，通往一個小島。我都來錯時間，但我看到了驚人的日落，走上步道。你想要來這裡但不要只到小島，有很多地方可以去。有一個停車場，餐廳跟商店。
I wasn’t able to make it to this beach, I took a trail that took me up on the hill and caught an amazing sunset! As I said, you want to explore this whole area. I didn’t get that chance.

This whole village is dope! I randomly found this place and was happy I did. Old school homes, many dilapidated but with interesting architecture. I just loved meandering around and exploring these broken-down homes. Not all the homes are broken. Many people live in this village. You want to go here! Not just this location but all around this village.
南寮古厝: 整個村落都很棒! 我是無意間發現了這裡，也很高興我有來。老式建築，很多荒廢但有趣的建築，我很喜歡漫遊，然後探索那些廢墟。並不是所有的房子都壞了，還是有很多人住在村裡。你會想來這裡。不只是這個點而是要逛整個村落。
Now we head north to Baisha, and there is an island we went to by boat that is still considered Baisha. The first thing you will notice as you cross the bridge to Baisha are the wind turbines, just like the ones you will see around Taichung area on the west coast.
現在我們要往北走向白沙，有一個島是搭船前往的，也是屬於白沙。你會注意到的第一件事就是過橋後的那些風力發電機，就像台中，西海岸的那些
These are at the end of the first Baisha Island. You can explore this area. There are some platforms that offer views and then another bridge to cross to continue down Baisha.

I liked this spot because the water was calm, clear, and empty. There was a Westerner walking around the beach area and his girlfriend was getting a tan. That was it on the whole beach. The ONLY negative was that the sand was mixed with shells and bits of coral. If that doesn’t bother you, you should go for sure.
我喜歡這裡因為水面很平靜，乾淨，且沒有人。有一個外國人走在海灘上，女朋友正在日曬。整個海灘就這兩個人。唯一的缺點是，沙子中夾雜著一些殼跟珊瑚。如果對你來說沒影響，那你一定要來。
This was close to the above location, but while that location was virtually empty, this did have tourists about (Taiwanese). There's a cement road that leads out into the ocean and the waves come in and sometimes they’re big enough to cover the road. It's cool. Check it out!
後寮天堂路: 這裡跟上一個點離很近。但是相對上一個點的空曠，這裡就充滿了遊客。這是一條水泥路可以通往大海，浪拍上來，浪高的時候就會淹沒整條路。很酷。來看看。
This place was cool! Crowded but still cool. Roots from this banyan tree created a kind of canopy that is pretty amazing to see. This is where I first tried cactus ice cream. At first, I wasn’t a fan. My mom is from Mexico and loves nopales (cactus). I tried it and didn’t like it. I was hesitant to try cactus ice cream, but NY Chen said the ice cream is famous, sooooo I gave it a go. It was hella good. I ate ice cream cactus a few more times. You should try it too.
通樑古榕: 這裡很酷喔! 很多人但很酷。榕樹根創造了一個棚蓋。很驚人。這也是我第一次吃仙人掌冰的地方。我並不喜歡吃仙人掌。我媽是墨西哥人，她愛仙人掌。我試過但並不愛。我有點猶豫要不要吃，但NY CHEN說是這裡的名產，所以我吃了，結果很好吃。我吃仙人掌冰好幾次。你也該吃吃看。
This is the longest and most famous bridge in Penghu. Its entrance and exit have places to park and take pictures. A popular spot for tourists to take pictures and the entrance has a place to get some more cactus ice cream!
澎湖跨海大橋: 這裡最長且最有名的大橋。他的入口跟出口都有停車場可以停車拍照。是一個很受遊客歡迎的景點。入口附近有一間仙人掌冰店。
Now we come to Xiyu. This was my favorite place. While you could get from one end of Penghu to the other in about 45 minutes, it did help to stay in different areas of Penghu to maximize exploration. I explored this area the most and spent the most time here. I started at the bottom. Literally drove the furthest south and worked my way up.
現在我們來到西嶼。這是我最愛的地方。你可以花約45分鐘從澎湖的一端到另一端，你最好住澎湖的不同地方，可以做最大化的探險。我花最多時間探索這地區，也花最多時間待在這。我從底端開始，開到了最南邊，然後逐步的達成
The lighthouse was closed but there were lots of views at this level and places to explore. Drive around and you'll see. You will find some nice views of the harbor and town below.
漁翁島燈塔: 這個燈塔關閉了，但可以看到很多風景，也有很多地方可以探索。繞繞看你就會發現。從這裡也可以看到港口跟小鎮的風景。。
This was actually the first place I explored. At first it wasn’t too impressive until I saw a sign that said in the past there were small caves that pirates would hide out in. We found two of them, but they were super narrow, and it was hard for me to get in. The rocks were black and cool looking. There are also a lot of sea cockroaches. I don’t know what they are actually called, but if you live in Taiwan, you know what I’m talking about. I think this is a must go to place, even if it's not as cool as many others. The fact that you enter caves that pirates hid in, just appeals to me.
這是第一個我們探險的地方。一開始不是那麼的吸引人，一直到我看到解說牌上寫著以前海盜會躲在小洞穴裡。我們找到了兩個，但它們很窄，我進不去。石頭是黑色的，看起來很酷。也有很多海蟑螂。我其實不知道它們真正的名字，你住在台灣你一定知道我在說甚麼。我會認為這裡你一定要來。即使他不想其他地方那麼酷。你進入的洞穴是海盜躲藏的地方。對我來說很有吸引力。
This place also looked cool as I glanced at the picture, but wasn’t as cool in person. It's a harbor with those Jacks like blocks but in different colors. It would have been cooler if more of them were painted.
內垵南漁港: 這地方也看起來很酷，當我看到照片時。但實際上不是那麼的酷。這裡是一個漁港，有很多彩色的消波塊。如果有更多消波塊被著色，看起來會更酷一點。
I wouldn’t call this a mountain. More like a rock. Its basalt rock which makes the formation super cool. I really liked this whole area to walk around, take pictures and fly my drone. The first time we hit it, it rained hard shortly after. We had no protection and got soaked. I had to come here again because of that. Pretty flowers adorn the flats around the mountain…err rock. You should go here for sure!
牛心山: 我不會把這裡稱作山，更像一塊大石頭。玄武岩讓整個造型看起來很酷。我很喜歡這整個區域，可以拍照跟飛我的空拍機。第一次我們去的時候，馬上就下大雨，我們沒有地方躲整個濕透。我必須後來再來一次。有很多美麗的小畫在山...嗯石頭附近。你一定要來這裡。
I don’t know. This place was like an old school playground with some interesting structures. I could see many people thinking it was lame. I found it quite interesting. Check it out, you decide!
我不知道，這裡就像一個老式的遊樂場，有一些有趣的東西。我看到其他人也覺得很爛。我倒覺得滿有趣的。來看看吧，你決定。
The basalt rocks here were cool, but tourist buses and people ruin it for me. Still good to check out!

I really liked this place! What I didn’t like was that it was crowded with tourists. I would have liked to have hung out longer, but I lost interest quickly. Old school buildings, very interesting places. A lot of the buildings reminded me of Kinmen where you have the back in time feel. NY Chen told me the people here immigrated from Kinmen, which is a plus, because Kinmen is the best place in Taiwan.
二崁古厝: 我很喜歡這裡，但我不喜歡的是他太擠了，很多遊客。我希望可以停留久一點但是我很快就失去興趣。老式建築，很有趣的地方。很多的建築讓我想起金門，復古情懷。NY CHEN 告訴我這裏的人是從金門過來的，更加分了，因為金門是台灣最棒的地方。
When you take a left on 203 you may end up here. I really liked this drive along the west side of this island. It was a very visually pleasing mini coastal ride which I will recommend to all of you, as long as you are making stops. Even if you don’t, still a beautiful drive. Stick to the west coast and make your way up to the islet for maximum effect.
當你在203公路向左轉，你就會到達這裡。我真的很喜歡騎在這個島的西邊。很享受騎在的這一段迷你海岸，這是我會向大家推薦的。只要你停下來，如果你不停，也是一段很美麗的路程。一直沿著西海岸走，就會到這個島礁。
If you’re following my path, you would have already hit a few spots before reaching this place. This has a heart shaped stone weir. Unfortunately, the tide was high, and we couldn’t see it. You could also go to another island I did not go to, to see the double heart stone weir. Across the small bay, you will see some interesting landmarks you should check out.
如果你照著我的路徑走，在此之前，你已經到過一些點。這是一個心型的石滬。不幸的是潮太高了，我們看不到全貌。你也可以去另外一個島嶼，我沒有去，去看雙心石滬。穿過小海灣，你會看到一些有趣的地標。你應該要看一看。
If you’re sticking to the west, you would have made a couple stops and eventually you will come to Dream beach. It was high tide, so it wasn’t much of a beach. I didn’t check it out.
如果你一直沿著西岸走，你已經經過了一些點，而最後你會來到這裡。剛好是高潮，所以沒有那麼多海灘。我沒有去看。
Further up north and stopping a couple more times in the process you will come here. I loved this place! You got a very good view Hsiao-Men Fishing Harbor and it's quite beautiful. The easy hike, the flowers, the view, and no one was there. Two young women showed up as we were leaving. I would most def go here!
繼續往北走，然後途中多停留幾次。我喜歡這裡。你可以從這裡清楚看到小門海港，很美。很簡單的步行，花，景，而且沒有人在這裡。我們離開後看到兩個年輕女子來。我一定會來這裡。
You will eventually cross a small bridge and come to a small island called Shomon Island. This island is where the Hsiao-men fishing harbor is. I loved this whole island. They have a lighthouse, some great views and places to walk around. The highlight is probably the Whale Cave. It's not much of a cave but the sun sets here and it's a cool spot to explore.
鯨魚洞: 最後你會走過一條小橋，抵達一個小島叫做小門嶼。這就是小門港的所在。我喜歡整個島嶼。有燈塔，一些美麗的風景，一些地方可以走一走。最厲害的就是鯨魚洞。不只這個洞，還有日落，是一個很酷的地方。
If you go here, you can catch a boat to another island up north called Bird Island for 300NT. It's about a 20-minute boat ride. It's still part of Baisha and many Taiwanese go there just for a day. We spent about 2 full days there and you don’t need more than that. This place captured my attention when I saw pictures of it at a 7-11. It had this huge sand bar and beautiful water. It was the double heart stone weir or the sand bar. We went to the sand bar. You can see basalt rocks and stone weirs without going on boats to other islands. You can see everything the other islands have on the main islands.
北海遊客中心: 如果你來這裡，你就能夠搭船前往其他北邊的島嶼，吉貝嶼，300元，大概搭20分鐘就到了。也是白沙鄉的一部分，很多台灣人來這裡一日遊。我們在這裡花了兩個整天。我覺得夠了。這裡吸引我的地方是，我在一間7-11看到照片，有很大的沙尾跟漂亮的海水。雙心石滬跟沙尾，我選擇了沙尾。你可以看到玄武岩跟石滬，不必到其他島嶼。
This island has the most stone weirs in Pengu, big on birds, super small, and an amazing beach! Once all the tourists leave in the afternoon, the town is quiet. I think we were the only tourists on the island. People come here to go on the banana boat and play at the beach, eat, and leave.
吉貝島是澎湖縣有最多石滬的地方。很多，很小，很美的沙灘，一旦遊客在下午都走了以後，小鎮就變得很安靜。我覺得我們是唯一的遊客。來這裡玩的人都是去坐香蕉船，或是在海灘玩，吃，然後就離開了。
The sand tail is where you need to walk to and not many people go there. They are on the other side waiting in lines for the banana boats. This place is magical, especially during low tide! You want to go here!
吉貝沙尾: 你必須走路才能到，沒有很多人來這裡。他們都在另一邊等著坐香蕉船。這裡很盟換，特別是低潮時，你會想要來這裡的
That's it for Bird Island. It's a tiny island. You can explore the whole place in a few hours. No need for me to throw in my pins.
